LAUDERDALE COUNTY-The Northwest Alabama Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council gave $8,750.00 to the Lauderdale County Board of Education for the purchase of defibrillators for athletic facilities at each of its schools.
Lauderdale County Board of Education Superintendent Jennifer Gray said the funds were used to purchase seven Phillips onsite AEDs (automated external defibrillators), seven sets of electrode pads, seven wall signs, and seven alarmed entry storage cabinets. The total cost was $8,750.00. Superintendent Gray said the portable defibrillators will be located at an athletic facility at each high school. “Since the device is portable, wait time for emergency personnel will be drastically decreased.” The defibrillators were delivered in Jan 2016 and are being installed in the field house on each high school campus.
Chairman of the Northwest Alabama RC&D Council Roger Hayes said the Council is in support of helping to ensure a safe environment in our local schools. “These defibrillators will contribute to the safety of the kids and adults working on these school campuses,” said Hayes. He also expressed his appreciation to Senators Larry Stutts and Tim Melson as well as Representatives Johnny Mack Morrow, Marcel Black, Lynn Greer, and Phillip Pettus who represent Lauderdale County well and provide support for the RC&D in the state legislature.
