Lauderdale County Detention Center Employee Arrested And Charged With Drug Crimes

arrestedFLORENCE-On Saturday, July 24 a Lauderdale County Detention Center employee, Kenneth Lee Lawson, 32 of Florence was arrested as he came into work on Saturday morning.

According to authorities Lawson was arrested for allegedly bring drugs and tobacco into the detention center for the inmates.

Lawson was only employed at the Lauderdale County Detention Center for three months and has now been terminated.  He has been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, attempting to commit controlled substance crimes, 3rd degree promoting prison contraband and carrying a pistol without a permit.

Lawson is out on bond.
