Lauderdale County Deputies Arrest Suspect; Charge Him On Several Drug Related Charges

LAUDERDALE COUNTY-On Wednesday 06/12/2024, Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Josiah Tukua observed a vehicle traveling east on County Rd 6 near Hwy 157. Once the driver noticed the deputy, he accelerated at a high rate of speed.   A pursuit began as Cpl. Tukua attempted to stop the vehicle. While attempting to catch the vehicle, Cpl. Tukua lost sight of the vehicle and terminated the pursuit.

County Rd 270. Cpl. Tukua was then directed to the wood line along the roadway by additional citizens. Additional Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators arrived and began searching the wooded area for the suspect. Following a foot pursuit, Cpl. Tukua and Investigator Gaylon Phillips apprehended Markus Wayne Fielder.

During the pursuit and arrest, deputies confiscated approximately 70 grams of Methamphetamine, a glass pipe, digital scales, and numerous plastic bags.
Fielder was arrested and charged with Felony Attempting to Elude due to Speed, Drug Trafficking Methamphetamine, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia as well as a previous felony bench warrant.
All Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
