FLORENCE-This week, John Sutherland with the Lauderdale County Citizens for Responsive Government (LCCRG) has filed a lawsuit against the Lauderdale County Agricultural Authority.
Sutherland, a Lauderdale County resident and taxpayer, seeks to obtain injunctive and declaratory relief to prevent the Lauderdale County Agricultural Authority Board (LCAAB) from building an agricultural center using funds derived from a gas tax in direct contravention of Alabama Constitutional Amendment 354.
The project in question is not only unconstitutional, but also economically unfeasible and would place the citizens of Lauderdale County with a heavy debt burden for decades to come.
Please join LCCRG for a press conference Wednesday, August 26th at 10:30am on the front lawn of the United States Post Office located at 210 North Seminary street in Downtown Florence as they announce the filing of the lawsuit, and discuss their case against the Lauderdale County Agricultural Authority Board.
Presenters will include Plaintiff John Sutherland, Attorney Billy Love, and Economist Dr. Barry Morris.
In the event of inclement weather, the press conference will be located in the lobby of the Lauderdale County License Commission office at 102 S. Court Street, Florence, AL. Please direct questions to LCCRG Attorney Billy Love at BillyLoveLaw@gmail.com.
