Larry Wayne Stevens, 69, known by many as “Snuffy”, departed this life as a result of a fall at his Saltillo home on Monday, Nov. 4, 2024. Larry was born in Amory to the late Bonnie Clifton Stevens and Ruby Joyce Peters Barnett. He spent most of his life in Lee County where he was a farmer in his younger years, a person great with his hands and a master mechanic working for Rock Automotive at his retirement. He worked several years for Stone Container as well. Larry loved working on cars, making them run smoothly and keeping them ‘spiffy’ all the time while he sold and traded them. He was a great horse showman in his youth. A Baptist by faith, he loved the color orange or “hugger” orange as he preferred.
A visitation for family and friends will be held beginning at 4 PM Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024 and continue until 6 PM, at Holland Funeral Directors in Tupelo. Burial at Doty’s Chapel Cemetery east of Shannon will be private. Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo is honored to be serving their friends.
Larry is survived by his son, Larry Stevens, Jr. of Oxford, and his daughter, Leslie Pearson of Tupelo; his grandchildren, Kaylee and Kara; his brother, Tim Stevens (Tina) of Saltillo, and his sister, Tonya Johnston (Anthony) of Saltillo; several nieces, nephews and other near relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Diane Tackett.
