Funeral services for Mr. Larry Wayne Scott, age 73, will be Friday February 23, 2024, at 2pm in the Shelton Funeral Home Chapel, with Josh Sinquefield officiating, burial following in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the family will also be Friday February 23, 2024, from 12 noon until service time at 2 PM in the Shelton Funeral Home Chapel.
Larry Wayne Scott, age 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 19, 2024, at his home. Larry was raised and lived in Trenton, TN, most of his life. He graduated from Peabody High School and The University of Tennessee at Martin.
Larry married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Denton, in 1972, and they raised two children. He worked in the automotive industry, finishing his career at SSRG in Newbern in 2016. He loved playing golf and tennis, running, antiquing, working outside in the yard, and watching UT sports. For the past eight years, his favorite activity was being Papa to his three grandchildren. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Milan, TN.
He is survived by his loving family, wife of 51 years, Shirley Scott, his son Shay and wife, Shanle of Knoxville, his daughter Shanna Helm and husband Eric of Nashville, grandchildren Rémy Scott, Elijah and Emma Grace Helm, and a step grandson, Joshua Helm.
