Larry Wayne Tompkins Larry Wayne “Bubba” Tompkins, age 70, of Russellville, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at North Alabama Medical Center.

Larry worked and retired from G&G Steel after 32 years.  He was truly one of a kind, a man with his own opinion, could trash talk with anyone and wouldn’t hesitate to tell you the truth.  He loved to fish with his friends and family, then especially enjoyed the big fish fries that would follow.  He was an Auburn fan and an Atlanta Braves fan.  If Larry was not found on the lake, he enjoyed being home taking care of his dogs.

He was preceded in death his parents, Raymond & Ruth (Pounders) Tompkins; brothers, James “Shorty” Tompkins, Tommy Tompkins; sister, Dorothy Stutts; and his favorite dog, Lucy.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 53 years, Kathy Tompkins; children, Mikki McNatt (Raymond), Lance Tompkins, Josh Tompkins (Heather), Jake Tompkins (Kayla); grandchildren, Desirea Baker (Stan), Brooke Wisdom (Troy), Lauren Tompkins, Emery Tompkins, Weston Tompkins, Andi Blayke Tompkins; great-grandchildren, Nora Baker, Asher Wisdom; brother, Danny Ray Tompkins; and a host of nieces & nephews.

The visitation will be 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 01, 2023, at Spry Memorial Chapel.  The service will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel with Bro. Bobby Brown officiating the service.  The burial will be at Knights of Pythias Cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Troy Wisdom, Stan Baker, Big Caleb Cothrum, Little Caleb Cothrum, Craig Bullion, Daniel Beard, and Ricky James.   The honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Hatton, Michael Hatton, and Jeremy Burns.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. John Almirol and the staff of Russellville Hospital for the care shown to the family.

Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
