Larry Steve Clawson, age 70, passed away peacefully in his home on December 30, 2023. He was born on May 9, 1953, in Columbia, Tennessee, to the late John “Blackie” Riley and Hassie Pearl Clawson.
Steve was known for his stubborn and hardheaded nature, coupled with a strong work ethic that defined him as a dedicated and determined individual. Despite his inclination to keep to himself, he had a heart of gold and was passionate about various aspects of life.
He found solace in spending time outdoors, especially in his beloved garden or while coon hunting. Steve had a particular fondness for classic cars and could often be found tinkering away, enjoying the craftsmanship and history behind each vehicle. A lover of simple pleasures, he cherished a good home-cooked meal shared with those close to him.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Cassie (Raymond) Kelley, and bonus daughter, Kerri Kelley, Grandchildren: Michael Kittl and Ryan Kelley. Steve is also survived by his siblings, Wanda Rhodes and Rick (Beth) Clawson, and nieces and nephew: Becky (Donald) Wiseman, Judy Ambrose, Joe (Sherry) Chapman, Maggie (Chris) Turnbo, and Jessica (David) Chatman. His aunt, Dorothy Thomason. Additionally, Steve is remembered by his former friend and employer, John Colley, and several cousins, great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Steve is preceded in death by his sister, Linda Chapman, brother, Sherrill Clawson, and nephews Johnny Ambrose and Rusty Chapman.
A private family graveside will be held at a later date at Watts Hill Cemetery.
