Larry Ray Bingham age 75 passed away Wednesday morning January 17, 2018 at his home.
He was born September 6, 1942 at Jacks Creek, the son of the late Curtis Ray and Margaret Lou Wright Bingham. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1960 where he received the FFA Star Farmer Award. He married Linda Autry in 1963. They made their home at Jacks Creek. Mr. Bingham had raised cattle at Jacks Creek all of his life. He was a member of the Plainview Church of Christ and had served as Treasurer and Deacon.
He served on the Board of Directors of the Chester County Farm Bureau and had served as President from 1962 until 1978.
He was a long time member of the Chester County Rescue Squad and a member of the Jacks Creek Volunteer Fire Department. He served both Volunteer Organizations in all of its offices, with forty years of service.
He was a U. T. Agricultural Extension Advanced Master Beef Producer.
He married Gwen Defnall Capes in 1986 and they made their home at Jacks Creek.
Mr. Bingham is survived by his wife, Gwen Bingham of Jacks Creek; a son, John Bingham of Jacks Creek; three daughters, Regina Gray of Carrollton, GA, Renea Morrow of Carrollton, GA and Rhonda Butler of Difficult, TN; eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Tucker of Jacks Creek and Janice Bingham of Searcy, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Linda Autry Bingham in 1984, a son, Robert Bingham (Robert T. ‘Bobby’ Bingham in 1965) and a daughter, Regina Bingham in 2000.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, January 19, 2018 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Terry Johnson and Patrick Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Unity Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the Plainview Church of Christ or the Jacks Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
