Larry Tice Larry Presley Tice, 78, of Biggersville, MS, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022 after a brief illness. He was born in Prentiss County, MS on October 4, 1943 to the late Van Presley Tice and Cortez Storey Tice. After leaving school, he traveled and worked in various places before settling in Tampa, FL and worked as a merchant marine for five years. As a merchant marine, he traveled the world working as a stationary engineer/boiler operator. These travels provided many interesting experiences that he loved to tell stories about. While in Tampa, he met his wife, Ginger Burgess Tice and they married on March 17, 1973 moving back to Biggersville, MS. Upon returning to Mississippi, Larry was employed as a boiler operator on a dredge boat for the first dredging of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. Around 1980, Larry began working at Hall of Mississippi as a boiler operator and worked there until his retirement in 2002. He loved spending time outside fishing or working in his yard. He never knew a stranger and would always make everyone feel welcomed. He would do anything for a laugh and could tell a story like no one else. Anyone that truly knew Larry, knew he had such a big heart. He loved his family, especially his grandkids and spent countless hours watching them, taking them fishing and to the park, and playing ball with them. Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 Monday, January 3, 2022at Magnolia Funeral Home – 45 South. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Magnolia Funeral Home South Chapel, officiated by Bro. Brandon Palmer. Interment will follow in Magnolia Gardens. Family will service as pallbearers. Magnolia Funeral Home – South is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Larry’s memory include his wife of 48 years, Ginger; his sons, Kenny Tice (Michelle) and Johnny Tice (Jeannie); his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Tice; his grandchildren, Phillip Tice (Marlana), Parrish Works (John), Brentley Tice, Presley Tice, and Kaitlyn Tice; his sister, Sally McLemore (Dan); his brother-in-law, Leland Barnett and a host of other family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Teddy Tice and Brent Tice; his brother, Robert Tice; his sisters, Juanita Barnett and Bobbie Nell Sanders; and his mother and father-in-law, John and Viola Burgess. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
