Larry Nelson Malone, 77, Huntsville, passed away Monday, January 1, 2024, after an extended illness. Visitation for friends and family will be Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The funeral service will be held Friday, January 5, 2024, at 2 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Scot Farris and James Atkinson officiating. Burial will follow in Harris Chapel Cemetery, Cherokee.

Born on October 14, 1946, Larry was the oldest of four children and lived his entire life in Cherokee until moving to Huntsville two years ago. A veteran of the United States Army, he served in Vietnam as a Huey helicopter mechanic; worked for 25 years for United Parcel Service as a delivery driver; and for the Cherokee Water Department. Larry was an avid turkey hunter, loved Alabama football, and enjoyed golfing in his later years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Bessie Malone. Survivors include his best friend and wife of 37 years, Deborah H. Malone; sons, Darren Malone (Laura), Huntsville; Kerry Malone (Ashley), Tuscaloosa; stepdaughter, Missy T. Logan (Brent), Huntsville; sister, Joetta Cornelius (Doc); Tony Malone (Elizabeth) and Andy Malone (Leigh Ann); grandchildren, Liddy and Alice Malone; Hallie Logan; and Evan and Maggie Malone.

Pallbearers will be Cyrus Cornelius, Bradley Malone, Ian Wallander, Easton Wallander, Gary Pounders, Michael Patton, Terry Cosby, and Eric Weaver. Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Harris, Greg Malone, Mike Horton and the Sunday School members of Bill Alexander’s Sunday School Class.
