Larry Joe Young, 66, of Florence, passed away, Tuesday, December 5, 2017 after a brief battle with cancer. Mr. Young was a faithful member of Chisholm Hills Church of Christ; a 1969 graduate of Bradshaw High School; attended Florence State University; served in the Army Reserve; was retired from Reynolds and Wise Alloys; and was a member of Local #320 Operating Engineers. He was a wonderful son; husband, brother, dad, and papaw. His greatest pride was his five grandsons. He loved watching them play sports and spending time with them. His favorite past time was tinkering with old cars and any home project. He was one of the most loving, generous men who always gave more than he received.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at Chisholm Hills Church of Christ. A memorial service will be Friday, December 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the church with Charles Abernathy and Ellis Coats officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

Mr. Young was preceded in death by his father, Joe L. Young; and brothers-in-law, William Hale, and Larry Hayes.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Theresa Hayes Young; mother, Rebecca Young; son, Whitley Young (Maria); daughter, Millie Basden (Scott); brother, Ronnie Young (Connie); grandsons, Walker, Bentley, and Bryant Basden, Cohen and Reece Young; a host of loving nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Billy Morrow, Chris Winton, Oscar LeMay, Bobby Darby, Donnie Young, Roy Graves, Gary Farmer, and Larry Sharp.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Special thanks to Hospice of the Tennessee Valley.
