Larry Eugene King – Obituary

Larry Eugene King, 73, died Tuesday October 2, 2012 with his family by his side at Shoals Hospital.

Mr. King was born in Sheffield, AL and had great childhood memories of the Village Two neighborhood. He was a graduate of Sheffield High School (Class of 1957) and continued his education at Florence State University (UNA). After working for the Sheffield Water Department he worked for many years and retired from the Muscle Shoals Electric Department. Mr. King was a member of Cox Boulevard Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his father Delma O. King and by his brother Jerome King, Phd.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Barbara Riner King, his mother Claudine Berry King, daughters Genia McKinney (Joe) and Elesia Crosswhite (Tandy). He is also survived by the lights of his life, grandchildren Colton King McKinney, Sydney Elizabeth McKinney and Mason Paul Crosswhite.

He will be missed by a large extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Chris King, Terry Marthaler, Randy Gist, Ricky Gist, Russy Gist, Robbie Gist, Ronnie Riner, Donnie Riner and David Mitchell.

Honorary Pallbearers include Fred Marthaler, Ronnie Henson, Ronald Pace, Lloyd Jackson and Woodie Lindsey.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 1:00 on Thursday October 4th at Cox Boulevard Church of Christ. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Brother Larry Kilpatrick officiating. Burial at Colbert Memorial Gardens will follow the service.

The family asked that memorials in lieu of flowers be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
