Obituary of Larry Marcus Erwin Larry Erwin 83, of Decatur, Alabama, died January 26, 2024. Larry was born in Gadsden, Alabama to Marie Bethune Daniel and Marcus Benjamin Erwin.

Larry served dutifully for six years in the Army and The Air National Guard. After his service in the military, he began working at 3M where he retired after 35 loyal years.

Larry married Nancy Long December 19, 1971. They were married for 52 years full of love and service to others. Anyone who knew the couple would say they were best friends who were “attached at the hip”. They loved spending their time antiquing, serving their church community and visiting with family and friends.

Larry was perpetually curious and an avid reader. He spent most of his reading time learning about Naval Aviation, Aviation War ACEs, Biblical history, and history of the church. With a large personal library, Larry generously shared his collection of books with those he loved. Larry was known for his expertise in building model airplanes. He spent years perfecting his craft and building models for people all over the country. His love for all things aviation extended to radio controlled airplanes and was a recreational pilot.

Larry’s greatest legacy is his faith and service to First Bible Church. He served the church community for forty two years, even working for First Bible for seven years. He is fiercely loved and will leave a lasting impression on his church community.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Long Erwin, children Laura Erwin Watts (Barry) and Scott Marcus Erwin (Michelle). Grandchildren Sarah Beth Watts, Ashley Erwin Clarke (Stephen), Samuel Watts, Christopher Erwin (Marissa), Rebekah Watts, and six great grandchildren. Sisters Ann Daniel Inzer (Jim), and Katherine Erwin Hopkins (Mike), as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
