It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry Edward Wilson, who departed this world after a long battle with Leukemia on November 29, 2023, in Florence, Alabama. Born on October 20, 1949, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Larry was the beloved son of the late Marion Hansford Wilson and Mary Fleda Taylor Wilson.

Larry, a distinguished member of the first graduating class of 1968 at Bradshaw High in Florence, Alabama, embarked on a life of service to his country shortly thereafter. He dedicated four years of his life to the United States Air Force, from 1968 to 1972, and was stationed in Thailand, where he courageously served in Vietnam.

Beyond his military service, Larry was a caring and devoted family man. His presence will be deeply missed by his siblings: Alicia Brewer of Florence, AL, and Stanley G. Wilson of Foley, AL. Larry’s memory will also be kept alive by his nephew, Jeff (Michelle) Brewer, and nieces, Kerrie (Bob) Jolley and Sherri (Jeremy) Hart. He was a beloved uncle to several great-nieces and great-nephews, who will treasure the moments they shared with him.

Larry was preceded in death by his nephew, Timothy Brewer, and brother-in-law, Bobby Brewer, and he now joins them in eternal peace.

Services to celebrate Larry’s life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to come together and share their memories of a man who selflessly served his country and left an enduring legacy of love and dedication to those he held dear. In this time of grief, let us remember Larry with gratitude for the joy and warmth he brought into our lives and find solace in the knowledge that his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
