Larry Daniel Black of Speake, AL went to be with the Lord on January 13th at the age of 71.
Having attended Speake High School and Valley Grove Baptist Church, Larry was a proud member of the Speake community his entire life.
A man of strong faith and quiet strength, he enjoyed spending time with his family, children and grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, whether it be hunting, fishing or playing horseshoes, and he passed his passions onto his children, and grandchildren. He loved attending his grandchildren’s ball games and be it driving the school bus for Speake Elementary, or the church van to bring children to service, Larry was an influence for Christ. A survivor of Stage 4 cancer for seven years, Larry displayed the strength of his faith without complaint or boast to all who knew him.
Larry is preceded in death by his adored mother, Ava Nell Black-Hyde, father, Hansel Garland Black, and stepfather William Neal Hyde, Sr.
Survived by his loving children, Lori Huffaker (Michael), Lee Black (Holly), and Lucas Black (Maggie), and beloved grandchildren, Joseph and Jasper Crumpton, Sophie Jo, Asa, and Gus Black. Larry is also survived by his siblings Glenda Hembree, Martha Hill (Jerry Don), Phil Black (Gloria), Rita Culbreath (Brian), and Robbin Black (Lisa), as well as his many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed.
Funeral service to be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Valley Grove Baptist Church 6631 CR-81, Danville, AL. Visitation at 12:00 p.m., service at 2:00 p.m.
