Larry Dale Sloan, 78, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.  He was born on December 16, 1943 in Itawamba County to the Edgar Aquilis Sloan and Hortense Humphries Sloan Palmer.  When Larry was 7 years old they left Peaceful Valley for the farm that Ack bought on Phillips School House Road.  In 1973 Larry married the former Mary Jo Whitaker.  They lived and raised Randy and Amber on the family farm.  Larry was an inquisitive person often taking things apart and putting them back together again.  This led to a longtime mechanical career which would include 18 years at Scribner Equipment Company and 20 years at Action Industries.  Larry was the go to person in the community for repairs to a wide range of things from T.V’s to clocks, radios, engines and all kind of appliances.  A generous and caring person, he made many friends throughout life and had a sense of humor that was undeniable.  He was most definitely quick witted and fun to be around.  He loved his family and enjoyed being able to spend time with them.  He also loved to make music, sit on the swing in the yard visiting with family and friends, tinkering with Bobby in the shop but most of all being with Mary, Randy and Amber.  Larry Dale was a faithful Christian and was a member of Faith Baptist Church.  A friend to all, Larry will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Jo Sloan, Amory; daughter, Amber Fowler (Brandon), Fulton; grandchildren, Jordan Sloan, Corinth and Alison Poppell; brothers, Paul Sloan, Amory, Bobby Sloan (Francis), Amory and Terry Sloan (Frankie), Amory; sister in law, Marsha Whitaker, Shannon; brothers in law, Tommy Whitaker (Judy), Iuka and Michael Whitaker, Amory; a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Randy Dale Sloan; brother, Lynn Sloan; step father, Jack Palmer; mother in law, Kathy Reich; sister in law, Kay Whitaker; brother in law, Mitchell Whitaker and a daughter in law, Debbie Sloan.
