Larry was born September 25, 1947 to Milton “Gene” Whitehead and Colleen Whitehead in Tupelo, Mississippi.
He is a 1966 graduate of Austin High School. He served 4 years in the Air Force and retired from the United States Postal Service after 40 years of service. Throughout his life, he enjoyed coaching city league baseball, spending time with his family and friends, and was a avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife Connie Whitehead and his parents.
He is survived by his daughter, April Whitehead, son Donnie Whitehead, brother, Dennis Whitehead (Martha), four grandchildren Bailey Harwell, Hilton Harwell, Mason Whitehead, Raegan Whitehead, three nephews, Chris Wilson (Caty), Joey Whitehead (Kayla), and Adam Whitehead (Lori).
A graveside service will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 at 12:30PM at Decatur City Cemetery, Visitation will be from 11:00AM to 12:00PM at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel.
In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of North Alabama.
Pallbearers will be Joey Whitehead, Adam Whitehead, Michael Davis, Allen Guyse, Brinkley Thomas, and Seth Whittle.
