Laron Easton Self, Sr. Laron Easton Self, Sr., 99, a WWII Veteran and a Pastor, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023, at his home. He lived in Chicago for 37 years before moving back to Pontotoc, MS. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church, and was also a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.
Survivors include his four daughters, Dianne Barrowman(Don), Josie Scott(David), Tessa Flournoy, and Loretta Jane Graham-Giles; 2 daughters-in-law, Wanda Rutledge and Jill Self; 2 sons, Larry Self, Jr.(Laura) and Gary Self(Heidi); a son-in-law, Mike Bell; 25 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Lilly Self Ashworth and Lamar Self.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Opal Self; brothers, William, Vardamin, and Aaron Self; 1 sister, Mary Frances; his sons, Tommy and Robert Self; daughter, Melinda Bell; grandson, SSgt-John T. Self; and granddaughter, Robin Miller.
Services will be Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 11AM at West Heights Baptist Church in Pontotoc. Visitation will be Friday, June 23th 4-8PM at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc and Saturday, June 24th 10AM until service time at West Heights Baptist Church. Burial will follow in West Heights Baptist Church Cemetery. Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
