Lannie Joe Brown, 64, departed this life on November 12th, 2018 to join his parents Ollie and Marie Brown. Lannie is survived by his four sisters – Patricia Smith, Valerie Clinkenbeard, Judy Henderson and Larissa Ricketts; 4 nieces/nephews – Bianca Henderson, April Hall, Brandon Smith and Yancey Smith; 9 great-nieces/nephews – Ben, Brayden, Chrissi, Chloe, Mac, Zeb, Peyton, Olivia and Skylar; 7 aunts – Ruth May, Ella Grubbs, Linda White, Mary Rivers, Annie Lenox, Lillie Maples and Mabel Avans; and his best friend Blackie.
Lannie was born April 6, 1954, first of five children and only son of Ollie and Marie Brown of Morgan County. It took many miracles for him to reach the age of 64 due to his inclination to live life on the edge starting at a very early age: peeing in the family’s well, putting sugar in his father’s gas tank, biting the school bus monitor…the stories go on and on! He did make it to adulthood and became an amazing stone mason, a skill he learned from his uncle Cam. In later years he fancied himself a great cook although he still seemed to prefer the cooking of others (Trish’s tomato gravy and biscuits, Tina’s chicken and dressing and anything Terry put in a Crockpot). His friends will tell you he had a heart of pure gold…but just enough of his mother’s temper that you didn’t want to mess with him. His friends and family pray his heaven is filled with his favorite things: his loved ones who have gone before him, jelly filled donuts, Penn’s hamburgers, Mega lotteries and Alabama football. Roll Tide!
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 6 to 8 at Peck Funeral Home. Funeral will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in the Peck Funeral Home Chapel officiated by his sister, Patricia Smith with burial at Valhermoso Holiness Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brayden Henderson, Ben Shadden, Mac Shadden, Brandon Smith, Yancey Smith, and Stefan Henderson.
