Funeral for Lana Louise Jones Herndon, 82, of Decatur will be Friday, February 21, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Gary Formby officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to service. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Herndon, who died Monday, February 17, 2014, at her residence, was born April 27, 1931, in Blount County to Lorenzo Dow Jones and Sarah Cox Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Herndon; one son, Ron Herndon; and one grandson, Chris Bennett. Mrs. Herndon was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Happy Hearts Quilt Guild. She was an avid gardener and a member of the Orchid Society.
Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Bennett (Larry) of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Naomi McKnight of McCalla and Joyce Fields of Decatur; one granddaughter, Lauren Bennett of Atlanta; and several nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Stan Fields Jr., Mike Jones, David Johnson, Trever Tidwell, John Herndon and Dale Ellis.
