The funeral service for Lamerle Burkhalter, age 82 of Rockford, will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Rev. Jim Wilcox, Rev. Tony Harris and Rev. Larry Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Burkhalter passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018 at East Alabama Regional Medical Center. She was a Clay County native and had lived most of her life there. She was also a former resident of Alexander City and had lived in Rockford for the past 20 years. Mrs. Burkhalter was a full–time mother and homemaker. She was a member of Cornerstone Ministries.
She is survived by two daughters: Brenda Gibson (Robert) of Rockford and Stacy Radcliffe (Sonny) of Alexander City; two sons: William “Tety” Burkhalter (Candi) of Sylacauga and James “Jay” Burkhalter (Jennifer) of Jackson’s Gap; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Hubert J. Wright and Berlie Stringfellow Wright; her husband, Byron Burkhalter; her daughter, Kathy Burkhalter; two sisters and one brother.
Pallbearers will be Levy Barnett, Doug Livingston, David Gooden, John Burkhalter, Randy Lyles and Madison Pitts.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland.
