Lakshmi Kumari Allamneni, 64, passed away peacefully on October 2nd 2024 at home, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Vijayawada, India, Lakshmi immigrated to the US with her husband Dr. Kaleswara Rao and young daughter Sireesha in 1983. The family moved from New York, to Detroit, and ultimately settled in Huntsville, AL in 1988. During this time, her family grew to five, which kept her more than busy.
Lakshmi was a model to others in everything she did. She was fiercely loyal to family, and she devoted much of her time and talent to raising her three children, all physicians. However, she was more than just a mom to her children – she was their best friend. She was also intelligent, independent, mentally strong, empathetic and selfless. She always thought of others before herself. Her bravery and strength were best embodied in her battle with cancer – she never once complained through three and a half years of tough treatments, and continued to maintain her home and support her family as long as she was able. True to the Hindu goddess Lakshmi she was named after, she made the lives of everyone around her richer and more fulfilled. Her kindness, generosity, and caring spirit will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Lakshmi is survived by Kaleswara Rao, her husband of 47 years, daughters Sireesha (Sunil) and Sailaja (Deven), son Chaitanya (Supriya), mother Hemalatha, grandchildren Vivek Mody and Aarya Patel, two brothers and one sister, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday October 6, 2024 from 10:30-11:30 followed by a memorial service at Berryhill Funeral Home.
