Lake Guntersville State Park Welcomes New Naturalist To Park Family

GUNTERSVILLE-Lake Guntersville State Park is proud to welcome our new naturalist to Lake Guntersville State Park, Tom Giordano. A native of New York and retired Army Staff Sergeant, Tom brings an array of experiences to this position.

  • Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a Secondary Major in Natural Resources and Environmental Science
  • Chinook Helicopter Mechanic and Flight Engineer.
  • Biological Science Technician for the National Park Service (NPS) at Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve in Strong City, KS
  • Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism as a Park Ranger
  • Soil Conservation Technician for the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.

His hobbies include hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, photography, and spending time with his recent newlywed and their two daughters. Since Tom has been at the park, he has been certified for archery, attended a naturalist conference, implemented a schedule of events, and developed new information on the website that includes Flora & Fauna, Story Maps, and Trail Etiquette and Safety Information, to name a few. His current and future plans include becoming certified in the Leave no Trace program and creating a junior naturalist program.
