lagriettA Celebration of Life for LaGretta Eloise Ratliff, 58, of Decatur will be noon Saturday, May 16, 2015, at King’s Memorial United Methodist Church, Decatur, with Elder Benjamin Burt officiating. Interment will follow in Hartselle Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing.
LaGretta was born August 16, 1956, to Charles and Macie Ratliff in Hartselle. She departed this life on May 9, 2015, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined First M.B. Church, Hartselle, where she attended BTU, sang in the choir, served as president of the adult choir, was advisor of the youth choir, and was on the Trustee Board. She was a member of Bell P.B. Church in Decatur.
She graduated from Morgan County High School, earned her B.S. in Social Work from Alabama A&M University and her Master’s in Social Work from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Deborah Chapter 15 and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Huntsville Chapter. LaGretta was employed for 33 years with the State of Alabama Department of Mental Health ID Division, Region 1, which covered 13 counties.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Ratliff; foster son, Cody Simmons; grandmothers, Berta Bynum and Velma Ratliff, and grandfather, Charlie Fred Ratliff, all of Hartselle.
She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Zachary Chase Ratliff, Taylor Reid Ratliff and Jacob Sean Paul Ratliff; her mother, Macie Ratliff, all of Decatur; siblings, William Charles Ratliff, Birmingham, Valeria Crumbough (Tim), Crystal Foster (Russell), and Melody Harris, all of Decatur; and a host of neices, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, relatives and friends.
