COLBERT COUNTY-Two of the oldest Labor Day celebrations in the nation will help usher in
September in the Shoals.
The 100th annual Shoals Labor Day Celebration at Spring Park in Tuscumbia,
begins at begins at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2 with a parade along Main Street.
Political speeches and other activities will follow in Spring Park. An
antique and vintage car show at Spring Park is 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.. The
celebration, organized by Shoals Area Central Labor Council, is the longest

The 82nd annual Key Underwood Memorial Coon Dog Cemetery Labor Day
Celebration begins at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, at the world-famous cemetery,
4945 Coon Dog Cemetery Road, near Cherokee. It includes a liar’s contest,

Susann Hamlin, president and CEO of Colbert County Tourism and Convention
Bureau said Labor Day weekend is traditionally one of the busiest of the
year in the Shoals. She said the two festivals attract visitors from
throughout the country.
