Kurt Steele, 57, of Huntsville, passed away on Friday at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a follower of Christ and a member of Jackson Way Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
He was a 1984 graduate of Franklin County High School in Winchester, Tennessee. After obtaining his formal education, he spent his working career in electronics technology, mostly in the banking industry.
Kurt loved his family, music, Ford Mustangs, and loved the mountains – especially enjoying spending time in Gatlinburg. He will be remembered for his dry and sarcastic sense of humor and for bringing joy to the lives of others by making them laugh.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dewey Ray Steele, by his grandparents, and by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clifford E. Payne Jr & Georgia Payne.
Surviving family members include his wife of 31 years, Karen Payne Steele; His son, Corey Dylan Steele and his wife, Caylin; His granddaughter, Valerie Rebecca Steele; His son, Jared Blake Steele; His mother, Freda Gayle Sanders and her husband, George; His brother, Eric Steele and his wife, Lynn; His sister, Renae Maklary and her husband Chris; His brother-in-law, Cliff Payne and his wife, Susan; He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4pm until 7pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7pm at the funeral home with Steve Hall officiating.
