Kurt James Gardner, Sr. – Obituary

Dr. Kurt James Gardner, Sr., age 57, of Harvest, passed away on Monday March 24, 2014.

Dr. Gardner was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he attended grammar and high school. He attended the Tuskegee Institute, where he graduated with a Doctorate in Veterinary Science and became a Veterinarian. Dr. Gardner was a member of the Rocket City Chorus, the Familiar Ring Quartet, and the Huntsville Stake Choir. He was also an avid supporter of the Cub Scouts where he served as a leader. Dr. Gardner is preceded in death by his father, James Gardner; and his brother James Gardner.

Dr. Gardner is survived by his wife, Susann Gardner; his mother, Dorothy L. Gardner; his children, Melody Chappell and husband George, Jason Achuff, Julian Achuff, Dean Gardner, Kurt Gardner, Jr. and wife Brittany, Stuart Gardner, and Aaron Gardner; his brothers and sisters, Gregory Gardner, Joanna Gardner, Charles Gardner, Thelma Spencer, Tasha Taylor, and Crystal Younger; his grandchildren, Nadiya Achuff, Leiloni Achuff, Samiyah Achuff, and Aaquil Achuff; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Saturday March 29th at 10am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Sparkman Dr. with Bishop Kevin Bruening officiating. Mr. Gardner will lie in state from 9am until 10am at the church. Burial will follow at Huntsville Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday March 28th from 6pm until 9pm at Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville.

I miss my grandpa very much and so does the rest of my family but life must go on and we will always remember him and cherish his thoughts.
