Kristosser Andrew Jernighan Profile Photo  Kristosser Andrew Jernighan was born on April 17, 1978 in Amory, MS to Armelia Johnson and the late Bobby Jernighan.  He departed this life on May 9, 2023 at his home.
At an early age, he confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior at St. Paul M.B. church under the leadership of Dr. W.K. Wise.  He was a graduate of Amory High School class of 1996.  He attended Itawamba Community college and studied business administration.  Then, he moved to Gainesville, FL and worked for Attorney James McCarty.  Later he relocated to Nashville, Tennessee where he served as an Assistant to the Counsel to the Attorney General and for the Medicaid Fraud and Integrity Division of the Tennessee Attorney General’s office.  Currently, he served as Executive Assistant in the Commissioner’s office of the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.  Kris joined this administration in October 2016 and he immediately knew that this was his calling.  He was an extraordinary person who was very passionate and dedicated about his work.  Kris loved his work family, and they loved him as well.

Kris was a man of many talents. In his spare time he loved traveling, singing, event planning, decorating, photography and spending time with family and friends.

Kris leaves to cherish his memories a devoted mother, Armelia Johnson; four sisters Natasha (Calvin) Plant, Carolyn, Evette and Chandra; six brothers Jason Jernighan, Bobby Glen (Cathey), James (Pearl), Gary, Bryant (Stephanie) Jernighan and Donald (Lana) Dilworth; Aunts Shirley Whitfield, Rochelle (Neal) Bradley; Uncle Orvis (Eve) Johnson; a host of loving and dedicated nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends, a special niece Nakayla Plant, and a special boss Marie Williams.

Kris was preceded in death by grandparents, uncles, sister (Shewanda) and brother (Jerry).

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home in Amory.  Reverend Lesley Mabry will be officiating.  Burial will follow in the United Memorial Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Eric Brown, Sean McGee, Ollon Whitfield, Kenneth Whitfield, Frank Bates, Adam Sherrill, Royce Meaders, Reginald Brown, Clifton Moore and Reggie Smith.

A wake will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023 from 4-6 PM.
