Kip Lee Carpenter, age 61, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on September 22, 2024, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Born on April 11, 1963, in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, Kip was the beloved son of Marian Collier Carpenter and the late Edwin Lee Carpenter. Kip earned his certificate in Massage Therapy and previously worked as a massage therapist. He also served as a constable and was the proud owner of American Gunsmith in Columbia. His current employer was Sonoran Desert Institute (SDI), where he worked as an instructor and shared his expertise in gunsmithing and firearms with many students.
An avid outdoorsman, Kip enjoyed hunting, fishing, and studying gemology. He was also a talented musician, known for his ability to sing and play the guitar.
In addition to his mother, Kip is survived by his sister, Marsha (Jim) York of Cane Ridge, TN; nephews Tyler (Sondra) Cox and Mike York; niece Annie York; great-niece Mallorie Ann Cox; and great-nephew Mason Fisher Cox. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Lee Carpenter, and his sister, Vickie Susan Cox.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Brandon Cochran officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
