Kerry Scott Reed, 58, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2023, surrounded by family due to complications following a car accident. Kerry, fondly known as Scott, was born in 1964 in Huntsville, AL to Jack and Wanda (McLemore) Reed. In youth, Scott was a talented athlete, playing football and running track. After graduating from Huntsville High School in 1982, he attended Jacksonville State University and the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Scott was a proud husband, father, brother, uncle, son, and friend. Known for his sense of humor, his loved ones will fondly remember all of the jokes he played and pranks he pulled. From picking his niece and nephews up by their ears, to fooling his mom on the phone, Scott’s vibrant personality is his legacy. We will never forget the many laughs shared and his cheerful smile. An avid football fan, his fall weekends were often spent relaxing with family and cheering on the Crimson Tide. Although Scott loved to play, his work ethic often preceded him. He was passionate about the work he did and devoted himself to striving for perfection. Scott served many roles in life, but he excelled in his role as a father. His daughter will forever cherish the countless memories made and will forever be grateful that he chose to be her dad. He exuded kindness, cheerfulness, and generosity to those around him. He was truly a big-hearted, family man that will be missed by all. While Scott left us far too soon, we know his legacy will last for generations to come.
Scott is survived by his wife of 19 years, Jeil Johns-Reed, and his daughter, Taylor Johns. He is also survived by his mother, Wanda Reed, three siblings; Rick (Kim) Reed, Shana (Todd) Finnerty, and Gina (Alan) Mills, one niece, Katie (Greyson) Wilkins, six nephews; David (Jennifer) Young, Sloan (Meaghan) Finnerty, Cole (Brittanie) Finnerty, Chandler (Rachel) Mills, Casey Reed, and Jamie Trammell, along with a large, loving extended family. Scott is preceded in death by his father, Jack Reed.
