Kent Bradley Wilson, 47, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020.
Agraveside service will be held Sunday, October 18, 2020, at 2 p.m., at Mt. Joy Cemetery, with Kilgore-Green Funeral Home directing. Paul Mason and Sonny Bennett will officiate.
Kent graduated from Walker High School in 1991 and pursued an accounting degree at the University of Alabama, where he graduated at the top of his class from the Culverhouse School of Accountancy. He then received an MBA degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. The next step for him was becoming a certified public accountant. Most of his career was spent working for corporations in the Southeast. He always gave one hundred and fifty per cent to any job he held and rightfully earned the title “workaholic”.
Growing up, Kent enjoyed participating in sports – soccer, baseball and basketball. During and after his college years, he was an avid Alabama fan.
Kent loved the Lord. He became a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church at a young age. Even when he lived and worked outside of Walker County, his heart was with the church back home. Kent was a very caring person, demonstrating this to the utmost through faithfully meeting the needs of his mother during her bout with cancer and chemo.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herbert Burrow, Doyle and Merlie Powell, and Nelson and Inez Wilson.
He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Wilson; his father, Ray Wilson (Sharon); his brother, Shane Wilson (Blythe) and a host of friends.
All of those who loved him, as well as his cat, Tessa, will miss him greatly. Rest in peace, sweet Kent.
Pallbearers will be Lee Aaron, Gary Davis, Billy Elliott, Terry Rice, Bruce Wilson and Wayne Wilson.
The family requests that those who attend the funeral service wear a mask.
