After living with Glioblastoma for over five years, Kenneth Todd Foreman, M.D., 59, of Hampton Cove passed from this world on September 26, 2024.

Todd was born on October 29, 1964 in Fredricktown, Missouri to Ken and Linda Foreman. He graduated from Parkway South High School in St. Louis in 1983 and then entered Washington University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology in 1987. He was a member of Theta Xi fraternity. He then received a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences from University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Dr. Foreman earned his medical degree from St. Louis University in 1991. Todd knew at the age of 7 that he wanted to be a doctor and decided by the age of 10 that he wanted to be a surgeon. His early life was dedicated to achieving this goal.

Following medical school he served on active duty as a US Army medical officer and flight surgeon, with stops at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, Fort Rucker, Camp Stanley(Korea), and Ft. McPherson. During this time he also served in Haiti as a United Nations senior medical officer from 1995-1996. He achieved the rank of Major during his time in the Army.\

Dr. Foreman completed his General Surgery Residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan in 2003. At this time he joined Alabama Surgical Associates in Huntsville, Alabama where he specialized in General and Bariatric Surgery. He was honorary staff at Crestwood Medical Center, where he served as Chief of the Medical Staff as well as former Medical Director of the hospital’s Bariatric Surgery program. He was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and Senior Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), and was a founding member and past President of the Alabama Chapter of the ASMBS. Dr. Foreman served as a Preceptor for medical students from multiple schools and enjoyed mentoring future physicians. During his last hospital stay, he was honored to be treated by two physicians for whom he had served as Preceptor. He was loved and respected by his patients, office staff, nursing staff, and fellow physicians.

Todd was involved in Boy Scouts of America for most of his life. As a teenager, he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. When his son, Max, joined BSA, he became an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 343. Teaching the First Aid Merit Badge was one of his favorite ways of serving the troop. In 2019, he earned his Wood Badge, the highest level of Scout leadership training for adults.

Todd met his wife, Donna, while stationed at Ft. Rucker. They were married in 1998 and had two children, Stella and Max. He quickly adopted the Alabama Crimson Tide as his team and enjoyed going to many football games over the past 20 years. He adored his kids and was always excited to watch them no matter what activity they were participating in. Todd also was passionate about Corvettes, preparing delicious meals on his smoker, classic rock, bourbon, researching his genealogy, and traveling – especially to National Parks. He loved going off the beaten path to explore. He didn’t let his diagnosis stop him from traveling – he visited Theodore Roosevelt NP, Glacier NP, Arches NP, Petrified Forest NP, and Grand Canyon NP while wearing Optune – part of his treatment for glioblastoma.

Todd was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Vida Foreman and Melbourne and Sylvia Mackley. He is survived by his wife, of 26 years, Donna; his daughter, Stella; his son, Max; his parents, Kenneth and Linda Foreman of Oak Ridge, MO; his brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Christine Foreman of Moline, IL; his sister and brother-in-law, Heather and Derek Dickerson of Cape Girardeau, MO; nieces and nephews, Morgan, Tristin, Ellie, John, and Parker; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his mother-in-law, Dot Kelly.

Todd’s 5 year survival is due to the excellent medical care he received both in Huntsville and at UAB. The family would like to thank Dr. John Johnson, Dr. Manh Dang, Dr. Tres Childs, Dr. Kelly Lynn, Dr. Burt Nabors, and Dr. James Markert for helping to extend Todd’s life so that he could see both of his children graduate from high school – his goal from the beginning. The family would also like to thank the staff of Hospice of North Alabama and Senior Caregivers for their loving care that allowed Todd to stay at home during his final days.

The family will receive visitors at Cove Church in Hampton Cove on Tuesday, October 1st from 5 pm – 7 pm. A Celebration of his life will be held at Cove Church on Wednesday, October 2nd at 11 am with Pastor John Tanner officiating. A graveside service will follow immediately at Maple Hill Cemetery. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.

Memorial donations can be made to the AMASA Scholarship Fund for Medical Students through the Madison County Medical Alliance.
