FLORENCE-Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts Volunteers is pleased to announce the recipients for the 2018 Art Education Grants. Recipients will be honored at the monthly volunteer meeting Friday, January 12 at 11:30 a.m. Fund-raising events like the Arts Alive Festival and Holly and Ivy Luncheons not only support the art center, but make these art education grants possible.
Art educators were invited to submit proposals for special project and/or supply funding. This year’s recipients are: Hibbett Middle School for the purchase of an art gallery wall to exhibit student works; St. Joseph Catholic School for clay art medium; Sheffield High School for a student-led collaborative mural project; Harlan Elementary School for a special project in painting mixing; Kilby Laboratory School for 3D printing; and Hatton Elementary School for supplies for a special artist-in-residence program provided by the Alabama State Council on the Arts. The grant awards totaled $4,140.29.
The Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts has two grant cycles each year. The application to the KD Volunteer Art Education Grant can be found at kdartcenter.org.
