Katy Ly (Yang) transitioned from this life on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at 60 years old in Memphis, TN. Born on April 21, 1964, in Taipei, Taiwan, Katy immigrated to Huntsville, AL, USA where she met her husband Frank and built her life and family.

She is survived by her mother, Amy Yang; sister, Dabby Yang; brother, Greg Yang; husband, Frank Ly; children, Dr. Eric (Hannah) Ly, Dr. Austin Ly; grandchild, George Ly; and numerous in-laws, nephews, and nieces who loved her dearly.

Mrs. Ly wove herself into the fabric of her community, with “adopted” family members all over the Southeast. She could bridge any cultural difference between America and Asia with her bubbly personality and infectious laughter. Katy was a graduate of the University of Alabama Huntsville and an enterprising businesswoman. She owned and operated her restaurant, China Wok, for 10 years, was a renowned representative for Atomy cosmetics and supplements, and of course, played an integral role in building the Acupuncture and Wellness Centers in Huntsville, Nashville, and Memphis into what they are today.

Katy was a friend to many, a devoted wife, and a cherished mother, but more than that, she was the heart and soul of her family. Her greatest joy in life was motherhood, pouring her entire life into nurturing her sons into men of character and kindness.

The family would like to thank the staff at Baptist Memorial for the medical care they provided Mrs. Ly. They helped the family through this difficult time with the utmost dignity and grace.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, with the service immediately following in the chapel.
