Katie Nadine Clay Conway, 88, of Pearland, Texas formerly of Hackleburg, Alabama passed away August 5, 2013.
A graveside memorial service will held on Sunday September 1, 2013 at 2:00PM at Cedar Tree Cemetery in Hackleburg, Alabama, with Rev Clint Knowles officiating, the family will welcome relatives and friends at the their home before and after the service.
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, James Erastus Clay and Annie Le Walker Clay, her brother David Walker Clay, her sister Clara Frances Clay, her sister-in-law Mary Jo Ray Brown, and her beloved son John Clay Conway. As she enters heaven she leaves behind her loving husband of 67 years, Hudon Conway, Sr. of Pearland, Texas, her son Hudon Conway, Jr. and his wife Dr. Barbara Tenney Conway, granddaughter Clare Conway Johnson, her husband Matthew K. Johnson, and their son McCall Conway Johnson, grandson Theodore Woodruff Conway, granddaughter Emily Katherine Conway, and sister Grace Noreen Clay Youngblood, as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews including Connie Ray Stockham, her husband Richard Stockham and their son Nate, Joyce Kay Youngblood Prescott, her husband Johnny Prescott, Joanna Lee Youngblood Moore and her husband Dr. Walter Moore, and Joseph Olin (Buddy) Youngblood III and his wife Susan Youngblood.
Nadine and Hudon grew up in the small rural town of Hackleburg, Alabama. During their marriage, Hudon Sr.’s career as an engineer in sales and management for Union Carbide and Cabolt Corporations allowed them the opportunity to move all over the U.S. In addition to raising two sons, Nadine worked for Sears in their local accounting department wherever they landed. She was known for her extraordinary attention to detail, outstanding memory, endearing southern accent, ability to see humor in everyday life, and positive attitude. She was humble, but her impact on the lives around her was profound. She is greatly missed and her example will live on in those who knew her.
