Katie Mae Belcher – Obituary

Katie Mae Belcher, 98, died Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born January 1, 1919 in Franklin County, Alabama to Judson and Mae McMickin. She was a longtime member of Bethany Church of God of Prophecy. She was a homemaker first, but worked as a seamstress at Itawamba Manufacturing and for years kept many children in her home. She was an avid conversationalist, a wonderful cook and loved to garden and raise her roses. She loved her family.
Services will be 2 PM Friday, July 7, 2017, at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Shottsville Cemetery in Alabama. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
She is survived by her children, Junior Belcher (Laverne) of Colona, IL, Doyal Belcher (Faye) and Berlon Belcher (Louise) all of Okolona and Evelene Cochran of Hamilton, AL; two sisters, Vivian Summerford (Dan) of Fulton and Ruby Mauldin (Hubert) of Tremont; 7 grandchildren, Cheryl Brand (Louis), Glen Belcher (Theresa), Nolan Belcher (Cindy), Pamela Morton, Johnny Belcher (Missy), Sherry Cochran and Melinda Dunaway (Mike); 16 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee Jackson Belcher; 3 grandchildren, Ronnie Belcher, Lisa Vanlandingham and Delena Nix; She was also predeceased by 8 siblings.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Belcher, Nolan Belcher, Glen Belcher, Lance Belcher, Will Morton and Jayden Martinez. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Alan Belcher and Ethan Belcher.
Visitation will be 12 – 2 Friday.
Memorials may be made to Bethany Church of God of Prophecy.
