Kathy Lynn Newman, PhD of Harvest passed away on March 21, 2018
She was born In Birmingham, AL to Mary Frances Shadrix, and Ottis Ray Shadrix on Sept 19, 1956. She attended school in Oxford, AL. She married the love of her life Larry Leon Newman on Feb 24, 1984 in Oxford, AL. She graduated from Jacksonville State University in 1974 with a BS in nursing, She continued her education at the University of Alabama in Huntsville where in 1992, she received her Masters degree in nursing. In 2011 she received her doctorate degree from the University of AL in Birmingham. She worked as a nursing professor at the University of Alabama in Huntsville for 30 years. She was a member of the North Alabama Nurse Practitioner Association, The American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and was a member of Wall Highway Baptist Church for 25 years.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Ottis and Mary Shadrix, and her brother Ottis Shadrix Jr.
Kathy is survived by her husband Larry Leon Newman of Harvest; her son Larry Ryan Newman of Nashville, Sisters Sherry Raymond of Madison and Donna Gardner of Alexandria, AL; and her brother Mickey Shadrix of of Oxford, AL.
Nieces and Nephews – Savannah Gardner, Matthew Raymond, Solomon Shadrix, Simeon Shadrix, Blake Gardner, and Kenny Newman.
