Kathy Kennedy West, after dealing with 6 different cancers over 30 years, finally was healed when she reached her eternal home on Monday, July 24, 2023 at NMMC-Tupelo. She was 65 years old. Kathy was born in Nettleton on May 2, 1958 to the late Marion Thomas Kennedy and Lillie Bell Keith Kennedy, who survives. A kind, caring soul, Kathy worked in retail sales until her health failed. She was a patriotic American and served in the U.S Army being deployed to Germany before receiving a medical honorable discharge. A very talented lady, Kathy was good with her hands and also worked as a Union Carpenter, a bartender and a certified nursing assistant in her life. A great photographer, she enjoyed the beach and sea shells, loving people and doting over her family throughout her life. She was a member of Woodland Baptist Church near Pontocola. Kathy became acquainted with the One Wing of Hope ministry and was supporting a single Mom and her 5 children in Uganda as a part of her call to Christian living.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 5 PM Friday, July 28, 2023 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with her cousin, Bro. Harold Keith Russell officiating. Visitation will be from 3 PM-service time on Friday only. Private burial will take place in the family cemetery. Survivors include her mother, Lillie Kennedy of Pontocola; her children, Kristopher West (Mary) of Lake Piomingo and Kristina West of Okolona; Nana’s 7 grandchildren whom she adored, Lexi (Will), Andrew, Makayla, Olivia, Skyla, Kameron and Harley and her one great granddaughter, Chaeleigh Jo; her siblings, Sam Kennedy (Sharon) of Shannon, Teresa Boner (Matt) of Nashville, Anita Red of Amory and Rita Kennedy of Shannon. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. She was preceded in death by her father, Marion Thomas Kennedy.
