Mrs. Kathy Jo Hammett, age 67, of Vernon, AL, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in Vernon.
Mrs. Hammett was born September 3, 1957, in Vernon, AL, to the late Bert and Alice Foster Glasgow. She owned and operated a home daycare, providing childcare for families for over 30 years. Her love for the children she nurtured was evident in her smile and gentle compassion as she showed her love for Christ through education and daily care for countless children. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, James Liam Allen.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 16, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Bro. Joe Moseley officiating. Burial will follow at Furnace Hill. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 prior to the service.
Survivors include her husband, James Hammett, of Vernon, AL; one daughter, Kandace Hight, of Vernon, AL; three grandchildren, Aiden Dill, Hunter Allen, and Ronnie Haze Allen; two brothers, Ricky (Lisa) Glasgow and Phillip (Marquetta) Glasgow; one sister, Phyllis Glasgow; five nephews, Scottie Glasgow, Brad (Brittney) May, Chris (Zettie) Martin, Tommy (Tina) Martin, and Michael (Mary) Martin; three nieces, Kisha Cantrell, Jade (Blake) Bostick, and Holly (Christopher) Reese; two aunts, Polly Bardon and Dean Vail; her uncle, Jerry (Faye) Foster; and a host of other family and friends.
