Kathy Ashley, age 74, passed peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at her home in Albertville as she was surrounded by her family. Her absence is staggering but yet her family rejoices knowing where she will reside for eternity.
Kathy’s visitation will be on Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 11am to 2pm at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home with funeral to follow at 2pm. Interment will be at Brashers Chapel Cemetery. Rev. Rick Douglas will be officiating the services. Pallbearers will be John Michael Williams, Tony Denton, Gary Troup, Bart Chandler, Bobby Ashley, and John Quick.
Kathy was born to her loving parents, Milford and Florence Smith Dennis, in 1949. Marshall County served as her home her entire life; she was born in Guntersville and raised in Grant. She attended DAR School, where she graduated in 1968. Kathy was driven with a career choice early in her life; she attended cosmetology school on Saturdays and during the summers. She began working as soon as she graduated from high school. Her desire to work as a cosmetologist was strong and she achieved a career that spanned 54 years. She became a part of many of her customers’ lives and they did hers as well; she was blessed as she formed many lifelong friendships during her career. She owned Kathy’s Hair Fair in Guntersville for many years.
Kathy married Justice Ashley in 1980 and for 44 years, they made their home in Alder Springs. She will be remembered for her sweet gentle spirit, as well as her strong endurance and lasting patience. Kathy was genuine, kind, compassionate, and loved by all who knew her. She was blessed with a radiant smile, which continued despite many tough hardships with her health in the past almost 3 years.
Kathy became a Christian at a young age and was a member of Creek Path Baptist Church at the time of her passing. And even as health issues began surfacing, she always reserved her Sunday mornings for online worship, which provided her much joy and pleasure.
Kathy was a true and loyal fan of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide; she enjoyed all Alabama athletics but was most partial to the football team. She would often say that she bled crimson. She also enjoyed reading and cooking for her family. Kathy adored her family; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her immense joy and pleasure.
Kathy is survived by her spouse, Justice Ashley, a daughter, Heather Grey (Brandon), a stepson, Steven Ashley, her mother, Florence Dennis, her sister, Karen Denton (Tony), three grandchildren, Jessica Williams (Kalvin Barnard), John Michael Williams, Kinley Grey, and two great-grandchildren, Jasper Brooks Barnard and Tate Michael Barnard. She was preceded in death by her father, Milford Dennis.
May she rest in peace, knowing she was deeply cherished by all who had the privilege of her acquaintance.
In lieu of flowers, her family has requested memorial donations to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.
