Kathryn (Kathy) Ann Magaña Wightman passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024, at home in Decatur, AL and in the company of her husband, Ed Wightman. Born on October 13, 1955 to Norma Allee Kowalski and Bernard Kowalski, Kathy was a long time resident of New Orleans, LA, where she raised her three children with her first husband, Isidro Magaña: Anya Jones, Katie Magaña, and Isidro (Bernie) Magaña. In her later years she was Grandma to Elliot and Isaac Jones, whom she loved dearly. ‍

Kathy loved spending time with family, Christmas, the bright colors of fall leaves, and watching birds at the feeders in her backyard. It was widely accepted that you could read a book by the lights on her Christmas tree, it was so brimming with lights and ornaments. She hated coffee but enjoyed the smell, a compromise that worked out well for her coffee-loving children. She was a strong yet fun-loving woman, the kind of person who could make it through anything, all while wearing funny hats with her kids.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Ed; brother, David Kowalski; three children, Anya, Katie, and Isidro; two grandchildren, Elliot and Isaac; and extended family. Her strength, generosity, and deep love for her family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
