Kathryn Imogene Barnett, age 93 of Gurley passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023. She was born July 20, 1930 to Nolan and Katie Morring in Gurley, AL. Mrs. Barnett was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family and helping with her family farm. She was a lifelong member of Pleas Mount Baptist Church and always loved going to church. She enjoyed gospel music and talking to people, she never met a stranger.
Mrs. Barnett is survived by her husband of 75 years Johnny Barnett; daughters: Judy Carol Ashworth, Gail Barnett Adkins and Brenda Willoughby (Terry); grandchildren: Andrew Ashworth (Stacey), Matt Ashworth, Lauren Ray (Jason) and Bethany Voyt (Jeff); great grandchildren: Ella and Will Ashworth, Brody, John Tucker, Scout and Harrison Ray, and Clark and Ford Voyt; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Penny Barnett Molendijk; brother Charles Morring; and sister Annie Ruth Jaggers.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 23, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the service to follow in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Pleas Mount Baptist Church Cemetery in Gurley, AL.
