Kathryn Eberle Newsom, known to loved ones as “Kathy”, passed away peacefully in her home on May 12, 2024, in Jackson, Tennessee. She was born on March 21, 1950, in Bennington, Vermont to the late Walter and Olga Eberle. Kathy leaves behind a legacy of dedication and kindness that will be deeply cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In her professional life, Kathy worked tirelessly as a dental hygienist for over forty years. Her commitment to her work shone through at Dr. David Magee’s Dental Office in Henderson, Tennessee, where she touched the lives of countless patients with her caring and compassionate nature.
Kathy’s journey led her from Hoosick Falls, New York, to Tennessee, where she made lasting memories. Her father’s role as one of the original five individuals to move to Tennessee with Porter-Cable speaks volumes about her family’s pioneering spirit and sense of adventure.
Education was a cornerstone of Kathy’s life. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1968 and went on to earn an associate degree from East Tennessee State University. Her pursuit of knowledge and excellence served as an inspiration to many.
Beyond her professional and academic achievements, Kathy had a deep passion for gardening and cooking. These hobbies allowed her creative spirit to flourish and brought joy not only to herself but also to those fortunate enough to taste the fruits of her labor.
Kathy will be dearly missed by her surviving family members and friends. While they mourn the loss of her physical presence, they take solace in the beautiful memories she created and the love she shared unconditionally. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Kenny Newsom; step-sons, Paxton Newsom and Patrick Newsom; and step-grandchildren, Matthew Newsom and Elizabeth Newsom.
Aside from her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Judy Plumb.
Per her wishes, there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to West Tennessee Area Council at 1995 Hollywood Drive, Jackson, TN 38305.
