Kathlene Cordell Phillips, age 98 of Empire, passed away August 23, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, Authur “Doc” and Annie Belle Cordell; husband, Lester Phillips; son, Robert Phillips; daughter-in-law, Regina Phillips; brothers, Charles Cordell, Nelson Cordell, Joe Cordell and Monty Cordell; sisters, Christine “Cricket” Williamson and Clara Cole as well as her step-brothers and step sisters and several nieces and nephews. Kathlene is survived by her son, Jimmy Phillps; daughter-in-law, Nancy Phillips; grandchildren, Anthony Phillips, Susan Watts (Jerry) and Stephanie Taylor (Bryan); great-grandchildren, Mason Taylor, Madison Taylor, Hannah Watts, Abigail Watts and Harper Watts as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family members. Kathlene was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church in Empire. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Kathlene worked doing tax preparation. She is lovingly remembered for her ministry of card and letter writing. Kathlene’s memory was also honored with a cookbook created from her recipes. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022 at 11am in the New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home chapel. The family will receive guests from 10-11am.
