Services for Mrs. Kathleen Patrick DeFoor Butler, age 93, of Bolivar, will be held Monday, October 28, 2013, at Bolivar Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:30 – 8:00 pm, Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar.
Mrs. Butler died Saturday morning at the Bolivar General Hospital. She was born in Bolivar, October 26, 1920, the daughter of the late Edwin and Alma Jones Patrick and lived all of her life in Hardeman County.
She retired from Western Mental Health Institute in 1985 after 30 years, serving in Central Clothing and Adjunctive Therapy. Mrs. Butler was a member of the Bolivar First Baptist Church where she was a long-time member of the Golden Sounds Choir. She also was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by 3 grandchildren, Kerri Shelby Rainey and her husband, Jeff, of Franklin, Melinda Shelby and her husband, Jeremy, of Memphis and Zach DeFoor and his wife, Rachael, of Knoxville; a daughter-in-law, Mary DeFoor of Bolivar; a son-in-law, Billy Shelby and his wife, Wanda, of Bolivar; 6 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia DeFoor Shelby; her son, Jerry DeFoor; husbands, James Leland DeFoor, Fred Lee Reynolds and John Butler; and her two brothers, Quinton and David Patrick and his wife, Margaret.
