Kathleen “Kathy” Ione Mitchell was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and friend. She passed away in the arms of her husband of 50 years on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the age of 69.

Kathy was born to Wilburn and Joan Perkins of Zion, Illinois on December 12, 1954. After graduating high school, Kathy married her husband, Greg Mitchell, and journeyed across the country to Colorado as an Army wife. Together, they would settle in the town of Amory and raise their three children: Brandon, Leslie, and Sarah.

Kathy devoted her time and talent to raising her children with love and attention. She was the mom driving the wood-grained station wagon loaded full of kids headed on an adventure. She was a girl scout leader, a boy scout mother, and a Sunday school teacher. She taxied the kids to music lessons and recitals, sporting events, skating competitions, and school plays. She was kind and compassionate with a playful wittiness.

Kathy was gifted with creative skill and a “green thumb.” Her Holiday spirit was displayed at the Village Green Nursery for many years; she continued decorating homes in the community with Christmas cheer long after the Village Green closed their doors. She enjoyed sewing pajamas and dresses for her granddaughters, watching her grandson play baseball, singing and dancing to a variety of music genres, and reading about the nature of reality. Kathy lived by “The Golden Rule” and stayed connected to the Spirit in the Sky.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 50 years, Greg; her son, Brandon Mitchell (Valerie) of Cheyenne, WY; her two daughters, Leslie Fountain (Kevin) of D’Iberville, MS and Sarah Huntley (Travis) of Cheyenne, WY; her Mother-In-Law, Becky Mitchell of Hatley; her sister, Linda Botu (David) of Allen Park, MI; and 5 grandchildren: Cameron Lee Hill, Tillie Jo Mitchell, Charlie Kate Mitchell, Dove Huntley, and Coast Huntley.

A Memorial Service will be held at 6 PM on Thursday, November14, 2024 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Jonathan Goodin officiating.  Visitation will be held prior to the service from 5 PM until 6 PM.
