On Tuesday morning, December 3, 2024, our beloved mother and “Nanny”, Kathie Sides “Muffin” Haskell, passed away peacefully at Diversicare Health & Rehabilitation Center. Per her request, Ms. Kathie had requested a private cremation.

Ms. Kathie was born December 14, 1951, in Cordova, TN, the daughter of the late Earl and Helen Sanders Sides. She attended Cordova High School and continued her education at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Gulfport, MS where she earned her associate’s degree in business. Much the people person in her younger years, Ms. Kathie served as a waitress for approximately 20 years that included the Twin Oaks Hotel and Blazing Steer. Although she enjoyed living life to the fullest and “hanging” with friends, Ms. Kathie settled down and became quite the private person. She challenged her mind by working table puzzles, playing backgammon, and watching her favorite television shows that included Westerns and MASH. Her family will remember her love of bright, vivid colors, always having “soda pops” in the fridge and how proud she was of her sons, their families and all her wonderful grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed.

Precious memories include her three sons, John Weaver (Brenda), Tony Weaver (Nancy), both of Ripley and Chris Weaver of Dumas, one sister, Louise Hinson of Chalybeate, one brother, Edward Sides (Danielle) of Ripley, five grandchildren, Jeffrey Weaver, Scottie Weaver (Allison), Candace Dixon, Matthew Akins and Eric Weaver, twelve great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Teddy Weaver, one sister, Peggy Earnest and one brother, Earl Sides.

The Ripley Funeral Home invites you to share memories.
