Katherine W. Calhoun, 77, of Mount Hope, Alabama passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at her residence. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Linda Smith and Rev. Jerry Cameron officiating. Burial will be at Tharptown Cemetery.
Born on April 11, 1946 to the late Leonard and Laura Watson, Katherine was a devoted member of Lighthouse Full Gospel Church of God in Franklin County. She enjoyed any event that she could surround herself with family and friends (going to singings and grillings). Katherine always went above and beyond to try and take care of everyone.
Survivors include her children, Wayne Calhoun, and Patsy Downer; grandchildren, Chris (Tonya) Calhoun, Adam Calhoun, and Josh (Kayla) Calhoun; great-grandchildren, Brennon Johnson, Brooklin (Zachary) Hill, Brayson Maples, Ada Grace Calhoun, Tristan Stromatt, Evie Calhoun, Addie Calhoun, Alyssa Calhoun, Livi Calhoun, Rhett Calhoun, Ryder Alred, and Cameron Alred; great-great grandson, Dakota Blake; brothers, Larry (Sandy) Watson, Curtis (Dixie) Watson, Thomas Watson, and Ferrol (Kathy) Watson; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Katherine was preceded in death by her spouse, John Calhoun; parents; sons, Donnie Calhoun, Shane Calhoun, Kenneth Calhoun, and Jerry Calhoun; grandson, Ian Calhoun; and sister, Kathleen Watson.
Pallbearers will be Lenny Watson, Jerramie Borden, Brian Watson, Jody Towe, Michael Pennington, and Jerry Brewer.
The family extends special thanks to all of Katherine’s family and friends that helped take care of her, especially Tonya and Kayla.
