Katherine “Lou” Louella Yarbrough, age 84, of Arab, AL passed away peacefully at her home on March 5, 2024. Lou passed while surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Heartlife Hospice. Lou was born June 23, 1939 in Blount County, Al. Her parents were James Adrian Lamb and Josie Opal Hudson Lamb. She was the widow of James Leon “Buddy” Yarbrough. She was a high school graduate and was employed at Redstone Arsenal where she worked in the clerical department. She was a life time resident of the Arab area and was an active member of Arab First United Methodist church.
Lou loved crocheting and throughout the years made many beautiful blankets and throws. She enjoyed eating out with family and friends and could often be found at her favorite local restaurant, Town & Country. Her constant companion was her dog, Bella. Lou loved talking and sharing her memories of the good times in times past. Lou was loved by all who knew her and she will most definitely be missed.
Lou is survived by her sons, Tim Yarbrough and Jeff Yarbrough (Helen); grandchildren, Elizabeth Yarbrough, Matt Stone, Cameron Stone, and Felicity Stone; great grandchildren, Dalton Stone, Jadon Stone and Landon Stone; and sister, Pat Martin.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Yarbrough and her parents, James Adrian and Josie Lamb.
The Yarbrough family will receive friends and quests at a visitation and service in order to recognize Lou’s contributions and to honor the life she led. The visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2024 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab. The funeral service will follow beginning at 1:00 p.m. Brother Jeremy Yates will be officiating. Interment will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Dean, Quinton King, Matthew Stone, Cameron Stone, Jimmy Yarbrough and Charlie Whitehead.
